A New House Built to Look Like an Old Barn

The homeowners fell in love with an old barn they saw while traveling and when it came time to build their new house, they wanted a barn home to look just like it.So they hired Yankee Barn Homes located in New Hampshire to build the barn home design for them, with specific instructions to focus on the stunning view of the mountains behind the barn house. The couple wanted an open floor plan for entertaining larger gatherings. The Yankee Barn Home design they went with was the Cabot barn home. The barn home floor plan has 2,367 square feet, with three bedrooms and two and a half bathrooms.
The open great room/kitchen/dining room has a wall of windows that frame the beautiful view of the New England mountains. There is also a master bedroom on the first floor that includes a private master bath, and walk-in closet. The first floor also has a laundry area hidden away from the rest of the house. There are two bedrooms on the second floor that are separated by a balcony, and open to below. A sunroom off the dining room area makes for a quiet spot for cozy breakfasts, or a simple lunch with family and friends. The main floor has an outdoor deck and sunroom. The beauty of barn homes is that they have cathedral ceiling, lots of windows, and lots of exposed beams throughout that lend to the character of this style of home. The barn home has hardwood floors, area rugs, a stone fireplace that anchors the great room, country fixtures, and a dining table to sit lots of people.Yankee Barn Homes was founded in 1969, so they have close to 50 years of post and beam construction experience.
